The US Senate has made it clear if he does they will refuse to seat
the appointee. The IL sec of state also must certify the appointment
and if an appointment WAS made it's highly questionable that he
would do so.

if we are challenging the election when we're not.

I don't think there's issue of his being a citizen (properly naturalized
I believe). There is question of his actual birthplace, which is a
requirement. The village in Kenya where his grandmother who claims she
birthed him lives is putting up a marker to commemorate the spot (I
suspect they will be "convinced" by outside visitors not to put that up
- could be hard to explain and an embarrassment). Just like the Duke
rape case - the facts don't matter - it's the narrative that's
important.
