Thump in 95 Voyager LE when turning

Discussion in 'Voyager' started by Mike Kingsman, Mar 1, 2006.

  1. I've had the transmission replaced a year or so ago, the van has 98,000+
on it, 3.3L V6, air, PS,PB,PW,AB,ALB, new tires.

When I start to turn, I hear a clunk or a thump(dependin on your ear!
:) ) when I begin to turn. It's not the clicking of the CV joints, just
a thump. I know it needs struts and shocks but I've never had that cause
this kind of problem with other Chrysler vans or other FW drive vehicles
    I've had.

    Comments? Thanks in advance.

Well, I have a 94 Grand Caravan, and it has a sway bar in the front. I
had to get the bushings replaced due to noise from the front end. This
is, apparently, a very common problem. The bushings wear, and then the
sway bar slops around as it get loser in the perished/worn bushings.

Mine is real easy to see. As it traverses from left to right across
the vehicle, it is held in place at two locations - one left, and one
right - where a bracket holds the bushings in place. The sway bar goes
through the bushings. Each end of the sway bar is attached, IIRC, to
the "lower" control arm of the front suspension (that holds the ball
joint where the steering knuckle sits) via a sway bar link.

But if you are not sure, just get down and have a look. ;)
