I recently purchased a used 2001 PT Cruiser. Nowhere in the owners manual can I
find out how to turn the heat on in the heated rear view mirrors. In fact I
can't find a reference to heated rear view mirrors.
But the window sticker lists these as being on the car.

If equipped, when you turn on the rear defroster the heated mirrors also
    turn on.

Same here !-) I assumed they went with the Rear Window heater,
but I haven't tested that assumption! - RM

I do not know about PT Cruiser design for this feature, but on my Eagle
Vision, they get heated through the air flow from the duct in the door.
Take a look at your door jamb when the door is opened and see if there is an
    air duct.

There are little heat elements inside it and as mentioned above, they do
come on when the rear window defroster is turned on. No forced air, no
    inner door duct work.
