What would be the realisic city mpg on a PT Cruiser automatic. I know
what the sticker says, but would like to hear from owners what to
actually expect with mostly or only city driving.
    Thanks in advance.

I have a 2002 PT Cruiser with an automatic and I get 17+ MPG in town and I
drive it hard. I like to hear my aftermarket exhaust system. On the road I
get 27 to 30 MPG depending on the terrain.

My PTCrusiser gets 200 mpg. Chrysler keeps calling me asking to buy it
back. They said something about it was never supposed to go out the factory
door..... some kind of Bush/Saudi energy conspiracy.

As another old timer, I can tell you that they also lie about their alcohol
    intake.

(to friends, it's always more than in reality. To their doctor it's always
    less.)

    Take care,

    John.

Oh, You have a lead foot too? ;-D I consistently get worse gas mileage when
driving my wifes car, than she does. She has a 2002 TE Automatic and has
been getting around 21-22 running around town.

Not everyone lies about their mileage as one put it. I get 18 with the
A/C on ( I live in FL) and 19.5 without. I added a low restriction air
intake to my 2001 automatic cruiser and bumped it up to 18/8 with the
    A/C on.

I'd agree with that. My wife's 2003 automatic is used almost
exclusively for running around town, and gets 17-18. On the rare
occasions when it has gone on long freeway trips, it gets about 25.

I have a similar car, and get similar results. Maybe a tad better on the city
mileage. Hey, how about a hybrid PT?

They barely had room for an engine so don't expect a hybrid anyday soon.
By the way, PTCruiser prices are advertised incredibly low these days. $5k
    off list (including incentives).
