Dowes anyone know of an online source for finding the production
numbers on early 90's Caravans and Voyagers?

    Thanks for your help.

  3. A round-about answer. The VIN. Does the end numbers indicate any
production numbers? I gather he means how many models were produced or
something like that, like a sequential serial number? Is that done?

If so, the VIN can be checked on-line with Car Fax and in regards to
the flooding, they will do a free check in case a car was in the flood
    zone.

I also noticed the metal tag in the engine room compartment. It's
really the VIN but has 6 digits at the end, good for 999,999 units at
that particular plant, like Windsor in Canada. The VIN decoded could
provide production numbers or not? Or is it that thing on the inside of
    the door have any numbers?

It's doable. I would be surprised if I could not track it down in a day
or two using various resources but some of the better ones are online
    but not free.

I'm looking for a source to reveal the actual numbers of particular
models of Voyagers and Caravans were produced in any given year.

Contact DC themselves. Regional offices can do a computer search called a
DO-ALL. But it will only spit out models built for that region. So there are
only 5 Regions in the States and 4 in Canada. SO regional offices are not
going to spend hours typing out DO-ALL request for you. It generates lots of
paper, as it will list the model line, and trim by dealer. SO if you want
just Contact DC head office , and they will give you production numbers for
a particular model. But htey will probably give you the total for Caravans,
Voyagers, and TC. Not likely by trim line.

  6. Good reply, much better than mine which I deleted. I was going to say
the PR or media department might get the info but if not for the media,
maybe not all that motivated for a mere individual who is not a major
stockholder or stakeholder. How about reports or public sources? I just
searched now and found in various newspapers numbers for how many Ford
minivans made per hour or how many made by Nissan in a particular year.
This would be a piecemeal approach which is often valuable but takes a
bit of effort. A librarian might know if it's available from a public
source. Or an industry trade journal. Economists might know of some
good sources. That's how I would start. Librarians and specialists in
the field who would or might need to know the numbers. I guess you
could call up the accounting department and plead... one time I needed
some info from Motorola so I wound up calling the factory. How many
factories produce all these vehicles, seven? I'll bet the head of the
plants would know. Nothing like talking to the guy right on the, ahem,
firing line. Although I'm a Voyager kind of guy, I sympathize with you.
Good data is really not that easy. I'm trying to find data on
"societal" concerns that just about do not exist. This problem here is
almost a cakewalk. The numbers exist. It's just a question of luck and
if they will release the numbers to you.

  9. *Reliable* numbers come from Automotive News, the main trade publication.
    The figures aren't free.
