power window broken on '94 Dodge Ram Van

When I try to roll up my driver side power window on my '94 Dodge Ram
Van, I just hear a whirring noise (which I assume is the motor trying
to roll it up), and a clicking/popping sound. Does this mean my window
has fallen off of its track, or what?

Any ideas how to troubleshoot and fix this problem?

    Thanks for any help.

More likely the gear belt has snapped. This is a flexible plastic "rack"
that feeds along a track. One end is attached to the bottom of the window.
The other end goes under a pinion gear in the window motor. You can gain
access by carefully removing the inside door panel. The tracks are not
repairable. You get a new one from the dealer, cut it to length (using the
old one as a pattern) and install it. Took me about an hour on a '94
    Dakota.
