Plymouth Grand Voyager ignition Key stuck in ignition

    my father owns a plymouth grand voyager 2000 , 2002 and he comes home, and hte key wont turn too of the off postion, we disconnected the battery and it turned off, but wont remove i've searched the whole dang net and ended up here, any ideas

    Tap on the key with a small hammer or something heavy as you are turning
    the key off and it will turn. Then have the cylinder replaced or just
    recoded with a new set of waffer tumblers
