There is a 1993 Chrysler New Yorker 5th Ave in practically brand new
condition for sale locally ; it has 98,000 miles on it, 3.8 litre, has
had a rebuilt Trans done by a local Chrysler Dealer, new brakes, new
tires, complete tuneup, has leather interior which is immaculate,
with warranty till 02/07 . The price is a measily $2500 OBO.

I know little about Chrysler cars . Can someone familiar with this year
shed some light on it ? Dependable ? Problematic ? Engine a good one
? Is it an exceptional deal at this price ? What is likely to go wrong
with it considering the mileage ?

Thanks for any help . Ill check back later.

If memory serves me well, this was the last year of the older body
style before everything switched over to the "LH" style. The price
sounds fair considering it is good condition. The only problems that I
have read about have been related to transmissions, electronic
instruments, and the air ride rear suspension. The 3.3 and 3.8 engines
    have proven to be reliable.

So long as the transmission was correctly rebuilt, that should not be a
concern. Replacing components for the air ride rear suspension can be
costly, as there are limited choices for aftermarket parts.

  4. warranty on what? If this is a private sale and not sold from a dealer, be
    aware
that warranties (such as any that might be on the rebuilt transmission,
    etc.) are
not transferrable, read the fine print. If it's sold through a dealer car
    lot and
the warranty is being offered by a Chrysler dealer you should be OK. If the
warranty is being offered by an independent car lot, buyer beware.

Also, you should definitely obtain the VIN number and call a Dodge/Chrysler
    dealer
and give them the VIN and ask if there are any recalls on it. There was a
    pretty nasty
ABS recall on the Bendix 10 ABS system that may or may not affect the
    vehicle -
if it does have the Bendix 10 ABS system, don't touch it.
