I have the 3.8 engine, 78k original miles. The oil was changed last month,
but the needle gauge reads at the low end of H-L scale. Sometimes it drops,
then other times it rises a bit. Is this an indication of needing a new oil
pressure sensor? The engine is smooth, no noises, the oil level is spot on.

  2. It couldn't hurt. The oil pump is a gerotor type mounted in the timing
cover and is direct driven by the crankshaft so I certainly hope it isn't
wearing out. The usual test for a bad sender is to unplug the connector and
see if it is oily inside.
