jeep cherokee special edition 2004

    I just bought the special edition V8, I noticed when I went to fill it up at
    the station that when i took the gas cap off to insert the gas nozzle, there
    was no little metal flap inside the tube that accepts the nozzle. Is this
    normal? should there be a little metal flap there? Thanks Mike
