I just found out at www.claimsreporter.com that apparently most Insurance company policies require the use of certified factory parts for collision repairs. They also said that most repairs have no warranty unless issued by the repair service and not the Insurance company! Does anyone know if and who is reponsible for a bad repair job that needs to reworked?

Insurance companies do not repair cars. Once you figure that out, the
rest of your questions are easy. How could they dictate what parts
are used? How could they warranty a repair? Who, besides the party
that did the repair, could be responsible? It really ain't rocket
science. Doesn't even require much thought.

To me, the question not asked also needs to be asked, which is "who the heck
is doing the certifying?" I can answer that one - it's CAPA. Certified
Auto Parts Association (not kidding). Lots of plenty cheap non-OEM parts
    can be CAPA certified.

If you want to know what a certified part is, just do a web search on CAPA
    certified and have at it.
