How does the Lebaron convertible top motor work?

First, please, if I need a junkyard top motor, is the one in the
Sebring the same as the one in the Lebaron convertible?

Second, please, my motor works intermittentently. It was perfect,
then 9 out of 10 times, then 2 out of 3 times for a while, and I have
a spare one I was going to disassemble and recondition.

Then I fainted 14 times, broke my arm, and also had intestinal surgery
    the same night.

Yestday was 19 days and I drove for the first time. At the end of the
trip, I had to hit the top motor 3 sets of times before the top would
go up. Never had to hit it more than 2 sets of times before and
usually only once or not at all.

Are there brushes that are hanging up, and hitting the motor makes
them fall back to a commutator? Are the brushes worn out. Are they
standard that I can get at a motor repair supply shop in this city?

What am I doing when I hit the motor with a wrench and then it
    works???

And a real tribute to https://www.forteinc.com/apn/subscribe.php
which starts at 3 dollars for 12 gigs a month,
including alt, misc, the big 8 and everything else, 12 gigs is
far more than someone who dl's mostly text should ever need.
