Dodge Avenger repair question

The switch for adjusting the electric rearview mirrors in my 1997
Dodge Avenger only intermittently makes them tilt up. I'd like to
remove it to clean or replace it. Can anyone tell me how to get it
out?

It's located in the same piece that covers the entire dash, all the
way over to the passenger side airbag. Do I have to remove this whole
piece (*gulp!*), or is there some way to just pry the switch out?

the switch pops out if you pry on the bezal around the switch
there was a recall on that for a sebring coupe but not sure if that
applied to the avenger
