We have a 98 Cirrus with 62,000 miles. We purchased the car with 32,000 on
it. Occasionally, since we've had it, when you shift from Reverse to Drive,
the tranny does not engage into drive right away. This has happened maybe
10-20 times since we've had it. The lag time has lasted as long as 10-15
seconds. Once or twice it has slipped out of drive without after having put
it into reverse first.Took it to the dealer and they claim the tranny is
fine, no touble codes or anything. Aside from the engage drive problem, the
    car shifts flawlessly. Any ideas?

I hope they or you would have checked for this, but this is exactly
what my '96 Stratus started doing when the transmission pan sprung a
leak and the fluid level go too low.

Traded car in today for 2000 Buick Regal GSE so I no longer need to find out
what the tranny issue was. Thanks for your assistance.
