    Hopefully, it's a simple question

My husband was given this vehicle and cannot find a way to remove the
key from the ignition. He is a mechanic; the ignition switch doesn't
push in, he can't locate a key-release button, and there doesn't seem to
be any position in "off" that allows for the removal of the key.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you for your time.

  2. The key tumblers are jammed and probably some are fractured. It is quite
likely that it isn't even the key for the vehicle, and someone just hammered
a random key into the lock.

He needs to put it in the off position (he can find this in the owners
    manual)
Then use pliers and pull steadily on the key while wacking the side of the
cylinder with a big rubber mallet. There is a possibility it will break off
    with
part of the key left in the lock. And there's a good possibility he won't
    be
able to get the key back in. The lock is shot anyway you look at it.

He really needs to get the service manual and figure out how to take apart
    the
column to replace the lock cylinder. It is better to remove the cylinder
    when
the key is still in it and the cylinder can still turn.
