Hi everyone, I’m hoping to connect with other Pacifica owners who’ve faced similar issues.

I have a 2020 Chrysler Pacifica that’s only 5 years old with about 100,000 miles. The dealership diagnosed scratched/scored cylinders and quoted me $15,327 for an engine replacement. The car’s value is around $19,500, so the repair bill would be more than 75% of its worth. Up to this point, I’ve kept up with all regular maintenance and service intervals.

Mopar initially mentioned a 30% assistance offer, but that still leaves the repair higher than the car’s value. The service advisor repeatedly told me it wouldn’t be wise to “throw money at a failing vehicle” and quickly redirected me to sales, even offering just $500 trade-in for a 5-year-old minivan.

When I contacted Mopar directly, I was told the dealership decides on assistance — but from what I understand, Mopar approves or denies goodwill coverage. The dealership says they’ve submitted the request, but I feel like I’m stuck in a loop with no one taking ownership.

Has anyone here had Mopar cover an engine replacement outside of warranty or gotten better results by escalating?

    • Did you work directly with a Mopar case manager or field rep?

    • Did the dealership advocate on your behalf?

    • Were you able to get assistance that actually made the repair worthwhile?
Any tips, escalation contacts, or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. I’m trying to decide if I should repair, sell as-is, or cut my losses — but I don’t want to leave money on the table if others have had success pushing Mopar to help.

    Thanks in advance!

so sorry this is happening to you. I’m having the exact same problem with my 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. I took such good care of my van. The dealership told me was no fault of my own, but that this is a common issue for Chrysler Pacifica. I still owe $8500 on my car loan and have a car. I can’t even drive.
Following this thread in hopes for a solution
