Does the factory alarm lock/unlock the door with any sound.
Mine does the job but is totally slient.
I cannot tell whether the remote is working or not.

Check your owner's manual. My '98 van has a remote sequence that turns on
and off the confirmation horn honk, which is detailed in the manual.

No such luck.
The panic button still activates the horn but not the lock and unlock.
