1995 Chrysler New Yorker idling problems

  1. Hi again everyone. Remember me? I posted about the 1995 New Yorker I
bought last Friday? Well I have some problems and good use some advice.
She's been idling high since I bought her, usually when I start her in the
morning, afterwards she's fine. this morning she was idling at 3000 rpm's,
even though I was only going 55. I stopped at a light and even though I had
the break on and was completely stopped she was still idling at 3000 rpms
and I could not get her to stop. Thank God no cars were coming, so I turned
right and the speedometer still on 0, still had the break on, I coasted into
the parking lot of the gas station, where she suddenly lurched, still on 0,
break still on and literally had to put her in park I and turn off the
ignition. After several minutes and a few fruitless attempts starting her,
hoping the idling would slow down, it finally did. What is causing this car
to suddenly do this? Also when I'm driving, regardless of the speed she
does not slow down unless I tap the brakes, often times I have to do it
several times. This is both nerve wracking and frightening, because I'm a
danger not only to myself but to others on the road. HELP!!!!!!!
    Thanks,
    Judi
PS I put a carb cleaner in the day I bought her, do you think this caused
the problem? Occasionally she shimmies when I put on the break and she is
    at 0.

Get the throttle body cleaned..... and if you didn't get the car service
after purchasing... oil and filter change.... brakes checked, etc, do it
    now.
