I have a 1985 5th Avenue that has a power window issue. This vehicle only has 109,000 miles on it. The small steel gear on the motor has the teeth (which engages the regulator) strip off in a very short time. I have replaced that gear 3 times now and it still is happening. Without the gear connected to the regulator the window moves up and down by hand without binding. I have removed the regulator but can not find anything wrong. I drilled the pop rivets which hold the motor to the door panel and re-installed using new bolts to secure it. What could I do to fix this ongoing problem? If it might be the regulator, where can a replacement be purchased. Thank you for your assistance.
